Let us know!
After this short commercial break, let me get back to this week’s blog. Klewel is proud to be associated in the capturing and saving of the knowledge of so many health conferences, because it is very encouraging to see all the work health professionals are involved in to make our health and therefore our lives better. I am sure the words, obesity, malnutrition, childhood nutrition are words that some of us already heard of, but most of us ignore, beccause we think that it does not effect us directly. Our consumer society promotes that we buy as much as we can, even if we do not need it. So everything is available now, and to make that happen, health factors are often ignored, which comes at a great price. Therefore, we definitely have to be more aware when it comes to food and nutrition.
There is no better place to do that than the 20th Internatinal Congress of Nutrition, which is the most important nutrition congress in the world. It is held every four years, so often is labeled as the Nutrition and Food Olympics.
More than 4,000 nutrition specialists are attended the congress ‘Joining Cultures through Nutrition’ on the third week of September, in Spain. It is the biggest of its kind in the world. It is under the patronage of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) and was organised by the Spanish Nutrition Society (SEN).
Solving issues of malnutrition is essential in order to have a healthy population and healthy sustainable development: social, environmental and economic said Maria Neira, World Health Organisation’s Director of Public Health and Environment at the opening of the Congress.“Without development there is no health and without health there is no development,” said Dr Neira.
The congress was organised into eight subject areas. There were more thousands of participants in attendance, since the Congress offered a unique opportunity for health and nutrition experts to access the latest scientific evidence on the key issues related to nutrition, health and well-being, across different cultures, traditions and dietary habits. There are so many views that change constantly about nutrition. One of the interesting fact for me was the debate on milk consumption. One side says that milk and dairy product consumption increases childhood obesity, however this is not yet supported by exisiting evidence. Meanwhile the existing evidence indicates that milk and dairy benefit bone and dental health and increase growth. I let you all judge for yourself, but the facts are really hard to deny. Professor Lindsay Allen’s findings are visible on the website of NNI. Klewel solutions provides an extremely useful tool for events like this. The recordings of conferences, workshops and symposiums can educate us on these rather interesting topics. Our Triskel station archives the contents in a way that is easy to retrieve, watch and search later.
